I'll start.
1) Xasthur (My favorite band)
2) Nocturnal Poisoning (AKA Xasthur's post band after he got out of black metal)
3) Nocturnal Depression (They have some very meaningful songs)
4) Mayhem (Pelle Ohlin AKA Dead has been one of the most inspirational people in my life)
5) Burzum (Varg Vikernes is Jesus)

If you consider Nocturnal Poisoning to be the "same" as Xasthur than my other pick would be:
Woods of Desolation (They make very sad music)

Xasthur, Nocturnal Poisoning, and Burzum are all solo artists. (just fyi)

2) The Kooks
3) Arctic Monkeys
4) Argonaut&Wasp (My Friends Band)
5) Chemical Brothers

If I could only listen to 5 bands, I'd pick these guys. It allows for a nice variety of music, all of which I love.

Dream Theater - riffs on riffs cus I heard u like riffs
Amon Amarth- Vikings!
Mastodon - da best thing since sliced bread

avenged sevenfold(allways good shit)
AC/DC(just to get wild)

2) Death (chuck schuldiner is a god on guitar, and is responsible for the first true death metal album.)
3) darkthrone ( some of the best bm to come from norway)
4) Venom (they are responsible for most extreme metals how can I not like them)
5) morbid saint (they made the fastest most brutal thrash album I have ever heard)
