IGN top talent leaves for patreon, patreon the way forward?

IGN has lost some top talent today with Greg Miller, Colin Moriarty, Nick Scarpino and Tim Getty leaving the site. Greg hosted a series of shows with Colin, Tim along with Nick worked as senior video producers for the company.

New venture is crowd funded Patreon called Kindia Funny with a focus being on TV shows, video games along with comics. All 4 have decided to show a interest in the above topics at IGN but IGN has maintained control of what gets made along with the budget.
Greg and Colin leave IGN after 8 years with the company, being the faces of hours worth of content.

Content planned daily podcasts, Twitch streams, Let's Plays and YouTube shows.

Curious if these guys do start reviewing games or just focus on general gaming stuff.
Happy to see another group of people jump into patreon, always been a fan of what Greg does.
Patreon has started to grow some legs over the past year with more and more people being funded by the project.
Do you think patreon is the way forward?

It's not always a bad thing when people leave to create other companies, that's how other great businesses are started. But something in my gut tells me this kindafunny website won't really take off.

Clickbait is awesome :p
To be fair IGN does have some talent don't agree with site policy all the time or review process.
