(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I just thought I'd ask a few questions to see what people like on NGU. Anyways if you want, please answer these questions

  • Who is/are your favorite comedians?
  • What is your favorite type of comedy?
  • Do you like sketch comedy?
  • Which comedians do you hate?

Mine:

My all time favorite comedian is Dave Chappelle. I think he is brilliant. His comedy covers a whole spectrum of topics and isn't talking about the same topics that other comedians usually talk about, which is nice. For those who don't know he used to have his own show on Comedy Central called 'Chappelle Show' which is absolutely hilarious and recommend you go watch/

My favorite Standup by Dave Chappelle

Another one of my favorite comedians is Louis C.K. He's pretty hilarious and talks about human nature a lot, but with what he talks about it it allows you to think differently about everyday things. He has a television show on FX called 'Louie' which focuses around him, his job, his kids, and his love life and some of it is based off his standup, which I also recommend you check out.

Another one of my favorite comedians is Chris Rock, I don't feel like typing out why but just watch one of his specials

My favorite type of comedy I would say is observational humor. I like to hear comedian's opinions on everyday life, pop culture, etc. It's fun to hear someones point of view on something and it changes how you look at things.

I like sketch comedy, but it depends who it is. Some groups can pull it off and others can't. For an example, Key and Peele; they are really talented writers and pretty funny but they tend to make sketches that are based off their old sketches which is nice for people who like to hear a new spin on something but to me seems kind of lazy. Another sketch group that I like is a group called 'The Whitest Kids u know' They do a lot of live shows and they even had a show on Fuse then it was later picked up by IFC for 4 more seasons. The wkuk seem to do a lot of dark style humor in their sketches along with some childish humor (Poop jokes, etc)

Some comedians that I dislike are Gabriel Iglesias, Kevin Hart, and Kat Williams. To me they just seem too overrated and are really lazy when they write.

Also for me a lot of black comedians, I often find myself disliking except for a few exceptions. This is because a lot of black comedians often stick to 2 or 3 subjects these being: Race, Sex, Kids. Same goes with a lot of Female comedians who usually stick to period and sex jokes and they talk about their vaginas too much

Two of my favorite stand-ups are Tom Segura (he's got a special on Netflix, might be able to find it on YouTube - Completely Normal) and Billy Gardell (you can find his special Halftime on YouTube but I won't bother linking it because it gets taken down quite often, so the link is bound to change in a few months). Their senses of humor are great, not a constant bashing or pseudo-political nonsense, they actually spend a great deal of time going through their jokes and just having a great outlook on life. I enjoy any comedy that is reflective of real life, generally taking the mundane and making it appealing. It's easier to describe what I dislike than what I like.

As far as comedians I don't like...it's pretty easy. Lewis Black, George Carlin (although he started well), Jim Jefferies, etc. are all unappealing to me. Anyone who basically drones on stage about politics, their wives, throws around unsavory language for filler, and makes it sound like everyone on the planet is a gigantic douchebag is not anywhere near my alley. I'd prefer to watch someone who is happy rather than mad.
