(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Good news America!
Federal Communications Commission [FCC] has got around to voting on Net neutrality 3 for and 2 against.
Vote means new regulation for internet.

  • Broadband access is being reclassified as a telecommunications service
  • Broadband providers cannot block or speed up connections for a fee
  • Internet providers cannot strike deals with content firms
  • Interconnection deals, will also be regulated
  • FCC dealing with complaints on unjust fees from firms
  • Mobile included
  • FCC won't apply every regulation from the Title 2 clause.

Idea has gone from being in principle to now being made into law almost. FCC faces a legal battle with broadband providers now taking legal action against FCC. FCC is likely to ask Congress to add the vote into law.
Service providers have warned that more regulation means less investment, $47 billion was the number last year. Given the scale of the American economy rather tiny number.

Verizon legal action back in Jan 2014, due to the net neutrality guidelines caused the FCC to vote on new guidelines. Verizon action may have resulted in harsher regulation when the FCC had no legal grounds in the past.

Of course the full details are not known with rewrites likely so the above ideas could be made softer.
Battle is going to be bloody along with long, rumours Google has requested rewrite to the rules allowing the company to install own service no matter the rules voted on at a local level.
Republicans have started to attack the new rules already in Congress mainly municipal broadband decision Google rumour may be true after all.

It's the simple fact that the internet was brought to light to not be regulated at all, an information super highway with little to no restraints. The FCC, the government, the ISP's, they all suck. It doesn't matter to them because they still get our money regardless.

This. This is all about making more money and the government finally decided to get a piece of the pie. In terms of internet speeds, things were getting better the past two years. Google Fiber started to roll out, then Verizon decided to get in on the Fiber gigabit solely out of competition.

I'm waiting for the whole, "Verizon didn't do that by themselves, the government did. We told them to compete." line from all the spox personal in Obama's cabinet.

If the service is classed as Title 2, municipal broadband decision is overruled you could see loads of competition and google run out quickly.

According to what I been reading the FCC agreed it was time to act and currently working on the new regulation it wants to bring to congress. So could see some major changes which means ISPs need to improve their service and stop certain practises.
Verizon own legal action has caused the FCC to look at being harsher and bring into law some ideas so they carry weight.
Another battle ground between the two party system which badly needs reform.

We should get the details within the next couple of weeks.

These ISP companies sound greedy as fuck, like for real lol. They just want to keep raising prices and one day, make internet cost $1000 per month.
