(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); During this session of parliement The Right Honorable Lord Mandelson has put forward some scary new legislation on copyright.
They are as follows .
1) To set his own levels of punishment for infringements, above and beyond the already proposed disconnections and £50,000 fine.

2) To allow him to 'confer rights' to third parties, allowing copyright owners whatever powers to spy on people, compel ISPs to divulge information without court orders, block websites that they want.

3) To allow him to impose duties on people or companies at his whim, such as forcing sites like YouSendIt to remove the option for their users to send files privately.

By appointing himself as 'pirate-finder general' Lord Mandelson has declared war on free speech, privacy, the presumption of innocence until proved guilty.

I as some of you know am a fully registered member of the Pirate Party. It's a small political party that orginally came from Germany. The party was founded on September 10, 2006. It received 229,117 votes in the 2009 European Parliament election, which was 0.9%, but not enough (at least 5%) for a seat. There are several international factions of the party , so i urge you to join.

But back to the point i think we as a pirate community need to stand up and sign the petition against Lord Mandelsons new and frankly hypocritical legislation!

Here's to Loonyology!
Thanks Fraz. Have signed it. Can't believe they're actually trying to bring something like this in. If they looked at this in a logical sense, they would see it would fail.

Daddy's home.
LMFAO "Your email will not be published". They mean like the members of BNP, military information or your insurance details? HA, ****ing joke.
Signed it, but tbh, don't think it will make a difference. I mean like, yeah they are going against our 'freedom' and 'privacy' if they have powers to check what you download and shit. The film produces make money. They say that they loose so much money due to piracy but yet how do most of the films get more income of a film that the budget was? Thats most likely the cinemas takings too. Then they have the DVD sales which people DO buy still and make money from them. Where does the part of loosing money come from? They only loose money if the film is shit IMO.
