Post: The "Protests" (Riots) in Baltimore
04-28-2015, 08:20 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); So I'm going to make this post assuming you know what I'm talking about. If you don't go check out a news site, its pretty much front page.

These Riots make me sick. The people in these riots are not "protesting" anything. They are a bunch of, well to put it frankly, thugs (no I am NOT bringing race into this. That is simply the best term) that are breaking shit, looting stores, and causing all this damage/harm to others for FUN. Its bullshit. They couldn't even honor the family of the victim's request to stop the protests/violence for ONE DAY so that they could have his funeral in peace. It sickens me. Absolutely disgusting. If you can't tell by my language, I'm generally pissed off.

These people need to be arrested for reckless endangerment, looting, rioting, disturbing the peace, and a slew of other charges that would go to the bottom of the page... And for the record, I mean the rioters be charged, not the peaceful protesters.

Violence doesn't solve any of the issues Baltimore is facing, but these people don't care. Not really.

Please keep the flame/hateful posts out of this thread. I know for a fact this is a heated debate, especially with the events that have taken place in the past few months where police officers are shooting unarmed victims/using excessive force. I know I don't need to say this, but the mods won't hesitate to close this thread if it gets out of hand.

Also just to make sure I'm clear, I'm not bringing race into this discussion, nor do I want to see any racist posts in the thread. Its honestly sad that race is this big of an issue in 2015. Martin Luther King Jr is turning over in his grave.

Yeah i agree and i heard all these gangs like bloods and crips and another gang all teamed up to go up against the cops. Its absolutely horrific.. I dont believe its protesting anymore. Protesting is sending a message with minimal violence and you see here, nothing BUT violence! Destroying other peoples homes, properties, and businesses does not send a message to the police about the incident...just imagine how the family of the victim feels. Its heart breaking. Its clearly getting out of hand people are over reacting in my
Opinion

I honestly don't see how the word thug is considered racist, color has nothing to do with one's actions. That's like Al Capone complaining about being called a thug. Hell, I bet if people started using the word ruffian they'd pull the race card. Outside of the arbitrary ambiguity, I'll go ahead and give my opinions and analysis.

You have legitimate protestors, which are few and far inbetween, whom get overshadowed by the ne'er-do-wells. But they are there, with what they perceive to be legitimate greviances. It sickens me that these ne'er-do-wells proclaim to be protestors. Yet, they loot businesses, burn cars and structures, antagonize law enforcement, and with all intents and purposes, act like animals. I like many others am all for individuals and groups of individuals to exercise their rights. But I truly believe Mayor Rawlings-Blake botched the entire situation. She could have taken appropriate measures to have rooted out the rioters, while allowing legitimate protestors to protest.

All rioting does is remove the seriousness of a situation, and makes people not want to discuss legislation to change things for better or for worse. As we all know, government tends to make a lot of things worse.

I don't consider the word thug to be racist, but I just wanted to make it explicitly clear that it was no way intended to be so. A lot of people have very strong opinions on this matter, and all it takes is one word to set them off. Ya know? Simply trying to avoid that is all.

In response to your statements rath, I agree that Mayor Rawlings-Blake could have done much better. However I've come to learn that stress and fear tend to make most people act like, frankly, idiots. She, in my opinion, should have convened with other mayors, the police chief and officers, and even some citizens in order to make an educated decision.

EDIT: Also sadly the video you put up Madison has been taken down.

IMO,The people are destroying their own city..The moment they decided to loot the store. If people think about it all businesses need some type of insurance on their property. When they set fire and burned the store what just went up?...The insurance. If this goes up then products from the store will go up. That's if the company decides to come back to the location. I'm not trying to say everyone in Baltimore is bad but a lot of criminals come out during this time. Everyone has the right to protest but people are taking it to far. I say, they the protest should be more peaceful. =3
