The Samsung Galaxy S4 GE was announced about a month ago by Hugo Barra at Google I/O in San Francisco. The HTC One GE was announced later but kept the same release date as the Galaxy S4 device.

Now, some of you might be asking, what is a "Google Edition" phone? A "Google Edition" phone is a phone running stock Android. What is stock Android you say? Stock Android is the way Google envisioned Android. Most phone makers tweak and tune Android to suit their style. Samsung have their skin- "Touchwiz" while HTC have a skin they call "HTC Sense." These Google Edition devices run Android the way Google wanted it to be. Without Touchwiz or HTC Sense. These devices, will inturn get updates directly from Google which means they will get the latest updates that Google throw out there.
