Glad to hear that you've made the transition to PC but I think its best to state your budget so others can help. Also, remember that laptops can be significantly more expensive than a desktop computer and that money could go towards better hardware to run the game at higher settings. My last bit of advice is to try and find a laptop with a dedicated graphics card (not integrated) as these will provide a huge gain in performance and will be worth every penny.

If you have any questions about hardware parts, brands, etc then feel free to ask me. Smile

Well, it just about runs on an HP Pavillion 15 (AMD A10 quad-core based with 8GB Ram and a Dual Graphics setup - Crossfire linked external on-MB Radeon GPU to the internal Radeon GPU in the APU). So given, at a very basic imagery settings, you can run it without needing the high-end GPU over an above the quad-core processor requirement, to be honest, you'll want to be looking at a quad-core laptop that has a mobile version of a GTX960 (or comparable Radeon mobile equiv) to make it run at more than SD image quality.

But you'll be paying for a laptop that'll be at least a third more expensive than it's desktop equiv - but given you'll be talking 'gaming laptop' market stuff, double that 'third more expensive' due to mark-ups.

I only put GTA V PC version on my HP to test it in principle not to actually use in anger. I use an octa-core desktop with factory o/clocked GTX960 for actual PC version use and even then i only use the PC version for modding experiments.

To be blunt about it, if you want Next-Gen/PC level features in GTA V, and modding isn't on your wishlist for the foreseeable future, then it's just a damn sight cheaper to buy an XBOne or PS4 for such gaming needs.

I only did the desktop PC upgrade (from a Hex-core system with a v. basic Nvidia PCI-E card) because it was cheaper to buy an off the shelf Gladiator PC that was GTA V ready than replace the m/b on the pre-built OEM PC when it came to the kind of memory/gpu/processor upgrades i wanted (GTA V had nothing to do with my reseach, but seeing a pre-built ready to ship 'custom' that was GTA V ready and met all the sane serious requirements was way too difficult to pass up on).

Now if GTA V had been built, as some suggested (myself included) elsewhere - as a self-contained OSbase/Game combination (effectively a semi-live 'SteamOS' type setup disc), so it had an optimal OS base that lost all the Windows excess baggage, it's base requirements would have been halved on the non-graphics side, An indicator of this can be found in the NG console versions, which only uses half the cores at best in practise and runs in a stripped down x64 based Win 10 environment (xbox one) or a similar UNIX based environment for the PS4 version.

Another clue to this, being the old PC versions of SEGA titles - they shared most of the files from the DreamCast versions, so to all intent and purposes almost ran in an semi-emulated Dreamcast/WIN CE based enviroment within Windows. If you had the means to make them direct boot (given a JEOS to run in), their PC spec requirements would have been halved. That said, i do so miss the simplicity of the DreamCast gaming days and hacking potential it had thanks to it's WIN CE basis.
