That probably because you are using an SPRX the SPRX menu exceeds the ps3 consoles capabilities and you are probably getting enumeration error although you have specified this I will assume it, if you want to save in story mode you will need to disable the SPRX, this can be achieved by adding a number or letter to the SPRX file thus the eboot wont be able to call upon it then, when you want to go online and mod just remove the added digit!

Most SPRX's cant have the game save make sure your have fake save data turned on
