Custom firmware - firmware that you installed on your ps3 that has been modified to let you do stuff that an Official firmware ps3 cannot. Do you have install package files and Game_Root folder on your xmb screen?

You need a CFW PS3 to use mods. But now that GTA 5 PC is released I'd suggest you get the PC version if you want to mod.

Well i recommend getting the model of your ps3 and see if it can be downgraded. To do this you will need an e3 flasher. And judging by most of your replies i highly recommend you pay someone (who is a pro) to downgrade your ps3
