(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});I figured some of you could use this tutorial because this time, last year, I was completely clueless on how to use torrents. Hopefully by the end of this tutorial you will be more understanding of how torrents work and how to use them better! I'm posting this here too because based on the feedback I got, I feel this is really helpful to beginners.
First let's define some of the key words you'll be hearing a lot of when torrenting:
.torrent: This is the acutal file that contains the content you're downloading. To download one of these, you'll need a client.
BitTorrent Client: These are essentially download managers used, and needed for the downloading of torrents.
p2p: Peer to peer; Basically how torrents are run is by downloading the files from computers seeding. There's no actual dedicated server to download things from like mediafire, megaupload, etc. Here's a You must login or register to view this content.
Magnet Link: a URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) for a torrent, which doesn't depend on trackers or torrent files anymore. Basically just a url that'll start downloading the file to your client.
Seeding: When seeding, that means you've completely finished the download and are now uploading the torrent to make it easier for others to download. I recommend doing this so everyone else can download faster as well. Without ANY seeders, no one can download the file.
Leeching: This means you're downloading the torrent but you're not uploading. Everyone is a leecher until they have finished downloading, and began uploading.
Trackers: Basically the sites you're downloading the torrents from.
Peers: People who are looking for the files described by the torrent.
Free Leech: On sites that require maintaining a ratio of uploads to downloads, free leech means that what you're downloading won't be counted but what you upload will. You should always look for these when on a private torrent site.
What you need:
● A BitTorrent Client (I recommend You must login or register to view this content.)
● Anonymity. You must login or register to view this content. or You must login or register to view this content. PeerBlock is free but BTGuard is safer. (Note: Neither are 100% guaranteed to protect you)
● A torrent with a good amount of seeds
● A brain
1. Download You must login or register to view this content.. This will be your BitTorrent client.
2a. Go to a BitTorrent site such as You must login or register to view this content., You must login or register to view this content., etc.
2b. If you want safer, faster, and more reliable sites, try and find someone who will invite you to IPTorrents or Demonoid. Both are private torrent sites that are invite only (check You must login or register to view this content.)
3. Once you've found whatever you want to download, check how many seeds it has. Typically 20 seeds will have a decent download speed, 40 will be good, and anything that has over 100 will usually be fast. But also look at how many leeches it has. You'll want a torrent that has more seeders than leechers.
4. Now this is where a brain is required. They're free at birth so hopefully you haven't lost yours. Anyways, MAKE SURE TO READ THE COMMENTS!!! Always read the comments first because people tend to comment if there is a problem with the torrent. Whether the file is a fake, a virus, or is being tracked by an ISP. Always better to be safe than sorry.
5. If everything is good, download the torrent or use the magnet link! (Torrent speeds are different than normal downloads. 700kb and above is a good speed to have. When you hit the MB (megabyte) that's basically the fastest it'll go)
Congratulations, you're now educated in the field of torrents!
