Did you update the device to 8.x? I remember my iPhone 4S had a problem where it wouldn't connect to any WiFi.

There is a problem with older generation iphones/ipods connecting to wifi networks after updating. You can try resetting the network settings or restoring the device but if you do both of those and neither work, you are probably screwed. There is a massive thread on Apple's forums.
