(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Programs to create art and paint effects from digital photographs are pretty commonplace now. But here's a relative newcomer to the market that deserves special attention, because the results are outstanding.

The program is called PostWorkShop, and you can get it from You must login or register to view this content.. There's a variety of versions available, all very reasonably priced. But the Basic edition is totally free. And that's the version that allowed me to produce the results below in about 2 minutes, with just a couple of clicks.

The Basic version has around 50 different styles to choose from, including paint, pastel, charcoal and so on. Experimenting is just a case of loading an image and double-clicking the option you wish to try.

PostWorkShop v2.1 is a 125 MB download, and is available in 32- and 64-bit flavours for both PC and Mac.

How To Download The Program

To download the Basic version, make a note of the coupon code that's shown on You must login or register to view this content.. Then click the Buy Now box on the same page, and paste in the code at the top of the page. The program normally costs around $20, but the coupon code should reduce that to zero. In my case, presumably because of exchange rate differences between where I am (the UK) and the US, the price was actually reduced to just 1 penny, which I was willing and able to pay via PayPal.

If you want to argue that 1 penny isn't really free, then please do it elsewhere!
