Don't take requests just yet, that's my suggestion. Keep making stuff and keep improving. Once you're at the point where you feel confident, that someone can go up to you and say something like "400 x 160, Gears of War tag, no text" and you just pop out a kickass tag in an hour... that's when you take requests.

There are really no tips I can give you after seeing your first piece of work. I'm being completely honest, in order to learn your tendencies, weaknesses and strengths I need to see at least another piece, if not two.

You sir have just started this very long but amazing journey in photoshop. I bet you look at some people sigs and graphics and think, "damn I wish I could so something like that". I used to think the same back when i started, and now a member said that they want to be as good as me :p Don't think of photoshop as a daunting task that you must master in a week or even a month. It takes time, effort but most importantly patience and the enthusiasm to try new things and to step out of your comfort zone. Here is my suggestions:

Have a look on the NGU tutorials sub-section for beginner tutorials. Don't try to run before you can crawl :y:
Also check out deviant arts and search for beginner tutorials. In time you will gradually pick up tips here and there and will end up coming up with your own unique style. And I can tell you now, your first piece was better than mine :L

Look. My first ever attempt at a proper sig:

The way i see things is that i have to constantly learn new techniques and i'll never be satisfied with what i know i love learning, and yes i have been reading several tutorials and downloading brushes and fonts... at this point i'm a noob and hopefully someday i can be a good artist... in real life i'm very artistic and know how to draw hopefuly that helps me with photoshop... your latest signature is really good... but yes i'm ok with the fact that it's going to take time... and if i have any questions i will ask you for help.

RIP PICHU.
Looks more like you used the defaults they gave you. :/

I'm not that great at it either, I made mine simple.

EZ.

First thing i'd say to work on is the quality and for a beginner try using this canvas 400x150

Also here is a helpful tip save all your small work as png not jpeg
