Great first attempt, Only real problems i see are the text and the background/open space. It's good you've noticed these problems cos thats always the first start to solving them The effects at the bottom are pretty good, so all i can really advise is to do something else with the background. I also notice you havent used any gradient maps or adjustment layers. Neither is there a light source, just play around with both and if u want any help with either just ask

yeah i agree with lordafi nice sig for a beginner . but work on the text
