I don't like the symbol and the gradients at all sorry dude

It's ok man, you just need more practice! Watch "Howard Pinsky" on youtube. Not just to manipulate certain images, but to find out all of the tips and tricks with PS.

Here are some visual tips I can provide:
1. Black strokes generally don't work well with text, only on certain occasions. Use dropshadows instead. (or other effects once you get comfortable)

2. Hard gradient transitions (dark to light) in the background look very amateur in many cases. Unless you're doing water, sky, reflections, etc. and even then, try going a little more subtle.

3.If you're going to use a texture background, try to make the text flow along with it. In this case, maybe make the text look like wrinkles in the cloth. It would be very difficult for a beginner, but it's just an example.

Here are just a few I can give, but watch more tutorials like I said and you'll be making great images in no time!
