In this tutorial I will show you how to properly blur images, i use this very often to prevent personal information from being seen. In this tutorial I am using CS6

Requirements:
- Photoshop.

1.) Open up photoshop with the image your going to blur out parts from, then right click on it and convert to smart object (right click the layer, look here for example: You must login or register to view this content.)

2.) Select any of these tools that fits you best, in my case i want a squared blur so I select this one: You must login or register to view this content.

3.) I now mark it around the area that I want blurred, in my case it's his big lips: You must login or register to view this content.

4.) Go up to "Filter" => "Blur" => "Box Blur". You must login or register to view this content.

5.) You can now select the amount of blur you want, then hit OK... You must login or register to view this content.

That's it, really simple tutorial on how to do it.

Thanks for this An0ny,
At first I figured it was going to be the pixelated box effect - but this is just as good.

Thanks for including pictures as well and keeping it straight to the point.
Well done.

Thanks ^^

I prefer doing it this way, as pixelated effect sometimes makes it easy to determine what's behind it. With this effect you'll be able to blur it away, entirely.
