You mean track it through iCloud?

Well I must first say I am highly against the fact of stealing goods like an Ipod or something of that nature. But on topic, I am positive when you factory reset the device it will clear the icloud account making it impossible to find.

Probably the only way to trace it after a full restore would be the IMEI number.
