I don't come in here too often but I have a dell ? that I bought 16 months ago and it had 250 gig in space and I had a virus 2 months ago that was a bitch to get rid of but now I'm only showing 75gig total space on my HD.
Is it possible that a virus ( 1st one was AV suite, second was a unknown trojan ) can wipe out HD space and change what you had showing as original total.
I had a guy look at it ( cable guy last night ) and he told me that it may have wiped it out.
I do have a lot of pictures and a fair amount of Video on my PC but it is only now showing 75 total and 4 available.

I can't load any more picts or video and will be buying a external hard drive tomorrow, but do I need to be looking at a whole new computer( can't afford one right now )
Or can I take it to some Geek squad place and have it looked at .

Any suggestions, and please don't flame to hard, I'm a Techno Tard

Have you made sure that there definitely aren't any other viruses on your computer because that could just be taking up the space?
If you have you could try checking the hard drive for errors by right clicking on the hard drive then go on to the tools menu and you the check for error wizard. If that doesn't work you may have to reformat the hard drive but that would mean reinstalling the operating system and I would only recommend this as a last resort.
