What is it?
- AntiChamber is a psychological puzzle game. Has simplistic graphics, nice charm, and puzzles that really cause you to think. Controls are very simple (WASD, and Mouse). It's more about thinking outside of the box than anything.
What makes it stand out?
- To start off, there are some points in the game where the game design is great. I won't uncover any specific points for anyone interested, but there are a couple areas that have solutions you would never think of.
- Solving the puzzles gives a strong sense of satisfaction
- Although there are many mechanics the game doesn't tell you, it almost forces you to try things with results you would not expect.
- There are signs at the end up every puzzle, all having different sayings tending to either deal with messing with your head or life.
My thoughts on it?
- I love it. As I write this I have 8 hours into it, all of them true hours. The game does a good job of teaching you how to play it without requiring tutorials. Instead it focuses on making you think of solutions in different ways. Overall, there just isn't too much to say about it, especially without revealing much of the puzzles. It has a great charm, satisfying puzzles, and is a game I definitely recommend picking up.
Pros
- The graphics, while simple, do look nice and work with the puzzles
- Puzzles get more challenging as you go along, but you do as well, creating a nice exponential curve.
- A lot of variety in the levels.
- Charming.
Cons
- Not many resolution options, meaning if you're like myself and have a 1366x766 screen then you will be using 1280x720.
- I can't see too much replayability.
