(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I just got me a OptiPlex GX260 PC for gaming/graphics purposes as I have a laptop also! I wanted to know if CoD4 and some other FPS games would play well on my PC, here are my specs below.

-Intel Pentium 4 2.53GHZ
-1GB Ram(Will be getting 1.5GB in couple days!)
-ATI Radeon 7500 Graphics Card

Can you guys tell what other games could be played if CoD4 couldn't be? I know alot about PC's its just I was thinking that it would lag quite abit. But couldn't i use the yitch3.cfg to make it better??

Obviously you're gonna find this stupid for what I'm saying and I totally understand that but... Why not just sell that computer, maybe save up some money then get a higher spec/newer computer? I was working with a AMD Athlon 1.8Ghz for a while and I searched and searched to find out if there was any way I could play games, I quickly gave up, saved up some money, then bought a 3Ghz quad core, bought a GTX 460, now I'm playing games such as Crysis 2 at decent FPSs.

I don't know, it's something to consider. Smile

Well i mean, i can add another core to it to make it a 2.53ghz dual core, upgrade the psu and then get a better graphics and get 4GB dual channel ram. i thought that would be a good idea considering i got this puppy veryyyy cheap and its a pretty decent desktop pc Happy

Add another core? What socket does your mobo have? You could put like a quad core in if you can put a dual core in.

yeah, the guy i got it from gets this thing called government surplus. meaning cheap computer that are pretty decent. he said he would put in another core anytime for a very small fee and he would add x2 2GB RAM sticks with dual channel also if i needed it for gaming

Your graphics card is what matters the most in gaming and is truly the reason why you can't run games.
Processors get bottlenecked by a shitty GPU and is why most computers with quad cores aren't able to run games at a decent setting and FPS.
At this point though seeing that you have a P4 I strongly suggest you revamp the whole thing and consider rebuilding your computer.

You have a Pentium 4 which uses a 423 socket and is not used by processors used by the powerful processors people have today.

If you have the money I'd look into a LGA1366 mobo such as a sabertooth from Asus, they are reliable and great for gaming.
The i7 is what uses the 1366 and any i7 would have you set for some time.

Dual channel RAM is standard and any higher isn't needed.
Triple channel shows little improvement for gaming :p.

DDR3 RAM is what I would suggest you get.
DDR3 is twice the speed compaired to DDR2 and any higher than 1333 shows next to no improvement.

As for a graphics card a good budget card would be the ATI 6870HD, it goes for under 200 and will be able to run nearly all games at nearly max.

You won't be able to play any current gen video games which is why I suggest you upgrade.

Computer gaming is really costly and before making any purchases do your own research.
Best of luck sir.

i7 870, HD 6970 and 8GB of 1333 ram
I was a sucker and went for the 6970 instead of two 6870s for the same price and more performance, I wanted to be able to Xfire in the future :p.
