Post: Gaming Rig, Can I Play It??

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I have bought tons of parts and working on my gaming pc.

my budget was $650 and I think I got what I wanted Smile

Specs:

Motherboard: ASUS P8P97 PRO
RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) Kingston X
Storage: 1TB 7200RPM
Cooling: Seagate
Case: IDK lol . . . has good cooling, and dust collector so it's cool :p
Processor: 2nd gen i5 (2500K) @ 3.3GHz, 3.7Ghz (turbo boost)
Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 550 Ti

I wanted to save a little money so I got the i5 instead of i7 so I'd save $100 and buy a low end GFX Card.
that's probably the best low end ever so I got it.

the GFX Card is still shipping, and I am going to order my power supply.

do you think that's good enough to run mw2 on 40+ FPS??
also what resolution would you think??

thanks for feedback, and Im glad all this was under $650 Happy

Shebang
Bring back the smileys!
Having experience with a crappy PC being able to run MW2 at 25FPS in the resolution 1280x800, You should easily get 40-50 frames in your desktop native resolution (whatever that may be). Now I don't want to be telling anybody they didn't do something right, but I think you should have gone with an AMD Processor, specifically the AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition. I have owned both processors, and it does the same job, possibly better job than the i5 2500k, and costs around 50$ less. But again, if you are happy with your build, I can't judge. Hope you have a good time gaming on the PC Smile

His i5 is fine imo. Only problem in the future (if you plan on playing games like BF3 and MW3) will be your graphics card possibly bottlenecking your whole system

Meh, I was but the benchmarks proved the intel to be a little bit better in performance, but of course the AMD GFX Cards will be be better (in most cases). Thanks and Im glad I've almost got this done Happy

How would it bottleneck?, I always can expand . . .

upgrade my i5 to i7, my motherboard has 1155 slots, and it has two pci-e slots.

Just for fun I googled BF3 Beta requirements, and its like (intel duo, and 2GB ram, and 512 of dedicated GFX memory)

mw3 should be the same as mw2, I'll just be happy for right since i have used a shit computer for the longest time. It was slowly upgrading and I think I got it to the best of my being Smile

It's time for a new era!

Bottleneck in the way that your computer could handle high graphics if not for the GPU. Still though, you'll prolly get medium graphics with a high res and stable FPS

Might want a better graphics card in the future, but it's ok for light GAYMEN.
