Post: $1800 Tower Build.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hey guys,
new to building computers. I have no idea where to start.
I live in Australia, so Newegg etc is out of the question.

Type of Computer Wanted: Gaming

Budget: 1800 Tower

Special Needs: As I have a Turtle Beach PX5 headset, I'll need Optical in and out (I'm pretty sure that's what it is. That uses a TosLink cable, right?) And it also must support 7.1 surround. Is this too difficult? Would it be better just to sell this headset and buy a pair of Astro's? - What I probably will do.
I'd like to be able to play games like Battlefield in Ultra, with a constant high FPS. I'll also be playing MMO's such as WoW.

Other Questions: Is an 1800 tower really worth it? Could it run games well into the future? Or would I be better off just going with like a 1200 dollar tower. Also, good gaming keyboards? I was going to go with a Blackwidow, but I hear they get sticky.

Nobody ever mentions soundcards?

Would this be any good?

I really want this computer to be a beast for gaming.
I'd like to be able to play games on Ultra, flawlessly. Also, streaming and recording game-plays.

Will mainly be used for games like Battlefield, WoW etc.

I have a Turtle Beach PX5 headset, so I'll need a optical port (I think it's called) - Is that the one you use for the Toslink cable?) Must also support 7.1 surround for my headset.

Right side, top two ports is what I need.

Would this be any good?

It's pretty good, but I wouldn't recommend getting AMD cards and putting them in crossfire. Although the 7970 is REALLY good for the price, crossfire can be buggy as hell in certain games, even modern ones. One 7970 will suffice and play pretty much everything on ultra, or you could get like a GTX 670 or 680, it should perform better. Also if you go my suggested route I'd recommend higher clocked RAM, so get 16 GB of 2133 Mhz RAM from like Corsair, Kingston, G.Skill, Mushkin, etc.

and $1800 is overkill for something that will be obsolete in about 3 years. yes it is good but change the case to a HAF X its bigger and has better airflow and 2 big graphics cards are nice but theres no diffrence in 100fps and 75fp. so save your money and a i7 isnt needed in gaming neither is 16gb of ram so i just lowered the build to like $1100 and you need a good monitor and keyboard, mouse

Hey thanks! I changed it. Does the HAF X have optical in and out slots? I don't think so, could be wrong. It may be obsolete now, but in another year or two, it will be needed? Mum's paying, so I'd rather just build a future proof computer, than say save 700 dollars and have to upgrade next year lol.

I'm so confused about this optical in and out stuff. What part has the ports for these? Is it the motherboard?
Leads to another question - would I be better off just getting a different headset, such as the Astro A40's?

the ones on the back at the motherboard are faster and a high quality and you don't need optical in and out on the front

Is the motherboard for that 2000 dollar build I linked in the main post. Says it only has optical out? Am I missing something here?

Also the HAF X doesn't have spaces to insert the TosLink cable
