Post: First build

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Me and my dad for Christmas are building a medium quality gaming computer, and we would like to play newer games like BF3 at least on medium and get around 40 - 50 fps. We were told by one of my dads friends who has a business in computers that we should start by finding a decent processor and GPU. But since this is our first build we don't know what to look for in either of those. So if some of you guys could recommend a decent processor that would be great, or even just some tips on what to look for with processors and GPUs. Thanks for the help!

- abb890 (P.S. We are trying to keep the build around $500 - $600)

Best bet for this would probably be to seek out help from either: Millz59 or ToKiiNz

Thanks for the help! If you don't mind me asking, would a amd phenom 2 black edition cpu or the amd fx4170 be better than that one?
I know they are a little more pricey but maybe it would be better to buy something a little better to last longer.

the reason i linked the a series is they can be used in hybrid crossfire with a discrete card so imo this is better then buying a $300 graphics card and the cpu is actually pretty good for what your paying its also unlocked so you can overclock it down the road if you need to i would wait for millz or tokiinz to reply they usual have pretty good builds for gaming pcs wont hurt to ask ask ask before you go and spend $600 on computer parts compare different cpu's and gpu's with ppl who own them or owned them as well

the apu aka the amd cpus that start with a are super weak and only to be used in a 450$ gaming pc or for someone who is on a short budget and wants to play minor games like minecraft they are weak. i made this it should handle BF3 quite well if you get online you should pull around 50fps on high.

BF3 at least on medium and get around 40 - 50 fps 500-600 dollar range i only did what he asked and i dont call them weak comparing benchmarks with intel hd 3000 and 4000(also can you even overclock the gpu side on these) ik 3 ppl whos cpu have fired from the gpu overheating

and combining the apu/gpu i listed together the pixal and texture fill rate will beat the single 7850 by around 6,000 without overclocking
(also gpu you listed is a 1gb model mine is a 2 and the cooling and pcb board on that card suck, thats why the one i listed is more in $)

you can only overclock the gpu on the newest a10s 5600k and 5800k i could have listed a 2gb one if i used a fx4100 but i didn't want to because the fx6100 does much better in games and overclocks higher
