So, Im going to be starting college soon and was wondering whats a good to buy? I'm going need it for school and a little bit of gaming. I don't want an apple laptop because they are too expensive. For the budget I'm look at something less than $800.

So if you have any suggestions leave a reply.
Thank you Smile

What Tokin said.

Even expensive laptops that eclipse your budget are tremendously sub-par for gaming.

Never buy a dell they do not last the hardrive in them messes up constantly and you have to take it to go get repaired each time it decides to hate you I would buy a toshiba definately they seem to be the best out there ! Smile

Please don't buy a Toshiba, they were the best in the 90s... its been all downhill since then and the only market they seem to still do well in is corporate. Also agree that Dell is something to stay away from.

For value for money, check out ASUS. I recently bought one and I'm very choosy when it comes to technology and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. MSI is another good brand worth looking into (Like Asus they are a motherboard, video card etc manufacturer).

These numbers aren't very helpful. For all you know you're getting a ten year old video card with 2-3GB of outdated VRAM.

I dont normally comment in these kind of sections but I have an Asus N56VM, its an extremely good laptop. It can easily handle the latest games.

- Build Quality : VERY GOOD
- CPU : VERY GOOD (i7)
- GFX : GOOD (GT 630M 2GB / GT 635M 2GB)
- Screen : VERY GOOD
- RAM : 6GB / 8GB (VERY GOOD)
- Blu-Ray Drive
- Sound : VERY GOOD (Bang & Olufsen and comes with MAXX Audio, probably the best sounding laptop there is. Even comes with a mini-subwoofer to plug-in)
- Matte Screen (Anti-Glare)

A refurbished one is right on your price tag.

NOTE : There are variants of this laptop, some with better graphics, different screen resolutions, LED keyboards and RAM) If you have the money put an SSD in it, the speed increase and battery savings are amazing.

Acer is good, just not as good at build quality as Asus.
