(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Hi guys, so basically I no very little about pc architecture but am in need of an upgrade as my pc is slow as shit and can't handle stuff running - I had Winamp and Firefox running earlier *(granted, with about 12 tabs open)* and it killed it. It's a 2007 build, but has an upgraded hard drive (about it).

I have recently upgraded to windows 7 after years of using xp, but don't think my machine is powerful enough to run it properly, especially as I can't see any Aero themes or anything...

Anyway.. basically I don't want a top of the line machine that is for gaming, I just want to be able to run a few programs at once without my pc chugging out and having an asthma attack.

So I have a few questions:

1) Can anyone recommend some stuff I would need in order to make it a bit quicker. I am looking to spend no more than £150 (including fitting if possible) so price is an issue. As I said, I know nothing but at a guess, I would need more RAM, and maybe a new CPU (probably a new GPU too as I can't use the Windows 7 3D effects...) and a better cooling system?

2) I have another tower (about 2004/5 ish?), would I be able to use the stuff from in there on my current machine? If so, what should I take from it and would it be beneficial, or...

3) .. Should I just buy new stuff for it and get it fitted instead of trying to recycle the old stuff? I wouldn't have a clue where to begin with building stuff into a pc and would not want to blow anything, so I would just rather have an expert do it...

If it helps, here are my current stats, not great......:

That system is too outdated to help with £150 without hitting a massive bottleneck.

I suggest you save up for a bit until you have £400+ and then come back and we can start fresh on a new build.

I see lol, well thanks for the honest reply Smile I really didn't realise it was that outdated, and certainly didn't realise it was beyond saving lol.
Best get saving £ then..
