Well if you want 8 cores for $950 you are narrowing it down to an AMD fx CPU. Probably the 8350. Unless you mean a 4 core Intel with hyper-threading.

I'm curious why you want it to be eight cores? As far as gaming goes, more cores doesn't do anything. The games aren't coded to use them anyway which is why people only using their computer for gaming are suggested to go with the i5 instead of the i7. Hopefully with consoles using more cores, pc games will be able to utilize them in the future.

What do you consider to be a gaming case?
To me a case is a personal choice. Everybody has different opinions about which cars look good and cases are no different. I would suggest something north of $70 because of quality at the low end but other than that as long as the case is big enough to fit what you want its completely up to you.

Out of curiosity what graphics card do you already own?

The whole 8 cores thing with amd is a marketing scheme, think of 8 glasses half full (amd) and 4 glasses completely full (intel). They both perform similar, some exceeding each other in different tasks by marginal numbers
