(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); I'm not sure if anyone knows anything about this but I've heard you can turn a custom firmware PS3 into a super computer. I was wondering how I would go about making it a computer that can run windows 7? If it is even possible

Believe it or not, the PS3 was engineered in 2006 and even if the console was built in 2012, it still uses hardware from 2006. So no, it's extremely old and not even worth trying.

PS3s was network linked and used to solve complex maths problems due to the CELL CPU. CELL CPU was great performance at these problems for a low price compared to other CPUs of the day.
However....the system does have some weak points mainly the other parts in the system say GPU/RAM. You can't turn it into a super computer for home use using windows.

Windows is only supported on x64 or x86 platforms which is not what the PS3 is based on.
Performance wise newer chips can do just as good even GPUs can match the power of the PS3 CELL now.
Due to being network linked you're limited in what you can do which is why it was used to solve problems.

System was running a custom linux OS.
Air force built one cluster with some other places building clusters.
