I want to build this computer because I will be taking some programming classes at my universities next semester and all I have atm is my 13 inch macbook pro. I want a pc so I could run the necessary program that the class might required. I might do some gaming on it who knows. I just want a powerful machine that fits my budget that the pc that I got there fits perfectly. I just want to know if it will be able to support a double display with the monitor, graphics card and motherboard that I have chosen.

Yea you'd be fine with that, you could even go lower end hardware since is pretty overkill for what you are getting it for,

Well you don't need a 970 to drive 2 monitors, you could get a $40 low profile card that would do the same thing. I think people need to define "light gaming" because that can mean anything. Solitaire has no requirements so you could call that light and that doesn't require and graphical processing.
Where as some people would considering playing BF4 for 20 minutes a day "light gaming".
The better answer to this would be what games could you see yourself playing. If it's anything that's going to be recent then stick with what you currently have.

he could always drop the board and chip to a h97 and a non k i5 and a 960 to a 750ti and it would still all be fine
