Continuing with the cartoon hijinks, Namco Bandai Games has another anime-based game to announce in this week's Japan game-mag rush: Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto, a PSP adventure game based off the BONES-produced robot action show airing on Japanese TV right now.

A fairly standard Japan-style adventure, the PSP Star Driver tells a fairly divergent story from the TV show and has you playing as an original character. You start the game getting washed ashore on the island where Takuto, Wako and Sugata live -- and, of course, you're completely devoid of any memory. You eventually wind up attending the Southern Cross school the other characters go to, but presumably events heat up rather quickly afterward.

The PSP Star Driver will largely be a story-based adventure, although there are also a handful of command-based battles. The story will branch and go in different directions from the TV show depending on your choices, and some conversations will depict the character's full body vertically on the PSP screen and let you use the analog pad to kiss them and so forth.

The game is due out sometime next spring in Japan.
