Right now, I have a PSP with the 5.00 M33-6 Software. Yes, I know. A bit old, but I have put it away for about 1 year and now I want to do more things with it. Any suggestions? By the way, whenever I try to update it, it says "Checking Please wait...." about 5 seconds later it says "Connection to the server failed. A DNS error has occurred. (80410414)". So what do I do? Do I format my memory stick? But I'm afraid that I will lose my games (of course) and my hacks. Thank you! +Rep if you've helped!

You can't update it due to that 5.00m33-6 is dark alexs last CFW. He also changed it to check his server which more than likely is offline by now.

So just download a CFW off of the internet I have 5.50gen-d I think (been a while since on my psp). Then just place it on your memory stick in game -> update I believe and run the installation from your games folder.

The firmware you put on it all depends what you want the PSP for/to do.

I'd do the same thing if i hadn't sold my PSP 1000 and 3000...
