Anyway, i have a fat ps3, very first model (bought on day of release in 2006) and about 2 years ago i got the YLOD. At the time, i couldn't find a DIY fix for it, and i had Need For Speed stuck in the drive, so naturally, i proceeded to dismantle my ps3. After getting to the drive, the only way i cold get the disc out was with a knife ( i know, manual eject. But i couldn't find a repair guide without paying 60 bucks)
So now, i've fixed the YLOD and i've fixed my Blu-ray drive ( i think )
I jailbroke it recently with kmeaw 3.55jb but i had to do it through recovery mode. I installed packages fine, multiman, snes emulator , dev_blind and openftps. ALL working fine until last night. I don't know what happened, but today they will NOT load. When my ps3 boots up, the drive now thinks a disc is being inserted, and it turns on for about 10 seconds. All of the packages will open, but i just get a black screen with nothing more, and i cant turn off the ps3 too because the xmb wont pop up.
Some advice please? Should i install OFW then re-jailbreak it?
Anything would be appreciated :p

First things first, wrong section =D it happens.
This is the PSP CFW section. I do have some knowledge on PS3 CFW and i can help you out
I had the same problem with my PS3 with the YLOD and Disc Drive, it seems that after you have a YLOD the Drive happens to mess up. May be ironic, but i did pull the MW2 disc out of the PS3 when i got YLOD.
As for packages im not too good with them, my opinion would be to get a new PS3(old version for CFW
). And start from scratch if its still under warrenty, or try to install OFW and re jailbreak. =D Idk thats just my 2 cents. Good luck with your PS# and welcome to NGU :y:

Ah, i see , well i'm not denying being a n00b at this 
i might try to re-jailbreak it, or else have a look at the blu ray drive again, i have my suspicions about my sensor for my drive, as after it stops thinking there's a disc coming in , it wont pull a disc in.
But right now, i'm too busy searching all of these MW3 pages AND the elite thingy :O
