Today i will be showing you how to jailbreak any psp without a pandora battery you should be aware that there is a very small chance of bricking your PSP


I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BRICKED PSP's



What Does Jailbreaking a PSP allow you to do

It allows you to do all sorts of stuff including play homebrew use custom XMB themes, emulators, and some bad apples even use it to run downloaded PSP games

First Thing First
Before you do anything back up your psp!
saves are in /PSP/SAVEDATA/

Now you need to know on what Firmware you are right now.
To do this turn on your PSP scroll all the way to the left and scroll down until you see the System Settings and press X. Scroll down again until you see the System Information and press X again.

If your firmware is below 6.20 download the firmware from the download section and follow this guide to update You must login or register to view this content.


To Downgrade


If your firmware is already 6.20 for PSP 1000/2000 or 6.39 for PSP 3000/Go

Download PSP 6.20 OFW
For PSP 1000/2000/ You must login or register to view this content.
For PSP Go You must login or register to view this content.
For PSP 3000You must login or register to view this content.

then Copy the "PSP" folder from the downgrader to your PSP. The downgrader is "signed" and can be launched from OFW XMB. You need to copy the update to PSP/GAME/UPDATE/EBOOT.PBP and for PSPgo it must be the eflash it is placed on. After setup run the downgrader and follow the onscreen instructions. once this is done your psp will get a blue screen ignore this and press o then re-input your settings you are now at 6.20 for PSP 1000/2000 or 6.39 for PSP 3000/Go


To Jailbreak PSP 1000/2000 Non Ta-088v3


THIS IS NOT FOR PSP 3000

And extract the PROUPDATE and 620PRO_Permanent Folders to the PSP/GAME/ directory then on your PSP go to the game menu and select Memory Stick and start PRO Update

The firmware should install automatically if not hold L and press X.

Once have done the PRO UPDATE on 6.20 go and start the Permanent Patch to install your 6.20 permanently. When you start it press X read the warning and then press X again

after the PSP restarts start the permanent patch again and press X and the O it will now be
permanently installed

Congratulations you have just jailbroken your PSP

To Jailbreak PSP 3000/GO & Ta-088v3

Download You must login or register to view this content.
And extract the PROUPDATE and FastRecovery (FastRecovery starts the Custom Firmware again if you turned your PSP off. Just needs a few seconds)to the PSP/GAME/ directory then on your PSP go to the game menu and select Memory Stick and start PRO Update

Once have done the PRO UPDATE on 6.39

Every time you want to play something that requires CFW you must run FastRecovery and you will be booted into the CFW

Congratulations you have just jailbroken your PSP


How To Use ISO's and Homebrew


How to use Homebrew and Backups of your PSN Games and UMD's:
Backups of your PSP Games go into the folder /ISO/. If it is not there, create it.
Homebrews come as a EBOOT.PBP file in a folder. Copy this folder into the PSP/GAME folder.
PSN Stuff also goes into the PSP/GAME folder.


What Now?


Now you can do all sorts of things here is a start

All ISO's and PS1 Games should only be used for backup purposes delete within 24 hours
Some PS1 Games will not run properly without

To use the themes you must have the CXMB plugin installed

Q:Will this brick my PSP?
A:Possibly there is a very small chance

A:Clear XMB Black

Q:Are ISO's and ROM's illegal
A:Yes

Q:Will you send me ISO's
A:No as i dont have any :wink:

A:Yes but you can unbrick it with a pandora battery

I love how the term Jailbreak is used to install CFW on a PSP. LMAO

Nice tut though, should help out some of the new people in the PSP scene.

There are plenty of tut's like this I think. I don't know, I'm not on here as much now, I'm mostly at the PSP scene and other sites for PS3. Still, I find it funny how people say "jailbreak your PSP" hahaha. It's installing CFW, not a jailbreak.
