In what is definitely a strange bit of news, IGN has confirmed that the PS Vita can
receive text messages via a phone number found in the Vita's System Information.

Calling the phone will yield no results, and there is no way to send outgoing texts,
but IGN says that users can most definitely receive text messages via the phone number.
Any message received is listed in "Notices from Operator", along with the senders number.

Although this isn't a very effective feature, it is raising speculation as to what the future
holds in store for the Vita, as far as apps go.
I foresee some possibility of a text messaging app that'll utilize the 3G radio built into the Vita.
Or it could just be a way for AT&T or Sony to send push notification to Vita users concerning their
data usage and such.
Tell me what you think this strange feature means? Do you think the Vita will get, or should have
a text messaging application?

Yeah the Vita seems like a really nice handheld.
If I had the money I would get one, but sadly college comes first
