(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Ohai everyone, it has been a while since any really interesting news has been available for me to post in this section, so I thought it would be quite cool if I posted a quick review I wrote last month about the gameplay elements we see in all the leaked God of War III videos.

God of War III, Graphical elements review

God of War 3 is the upcoming next installment in Sony Computer Entertainment’s incredibly popular God of War series, and this gameplay video really does show just how much the series has evolved since its early roots back in 2005, with the original “God of War.”

The in-game graphics for God of War 3 are a major step up from all the previous titles in the series. The way that your character, Kratos, fights his way around the map has been designed very well, as he responds exceptionally to everything that happens in his immediate environment. It is all done with extreme care and fluidity. You can constantly identify the massive detail that was added into this game, an example of which would be when Kratos opens the large, looming gates you can see his arms shaking and his muscles tensing as he fights to control his exhaustion.

Players who are familiar to the Devil May Cry series will be accustomed to the overall gameplay feel of God of War 3. They both look and feel the same, even though the ways you perceive the actions in the two games are completely different. God of War 3 seems to be a lot more slick and well constructed while you play it, whereas Devil May Cry got a slightly monotonous and un-stimulating after a few hours playing.

Being as the main focus of the game is obviously combat, it is a relief to see that the designers of the game really immersed themselves in trying to make it feel like you really are in danger, in the centre of the battle. It can be almost overwhelming at points, because the enemies come at you thick and fast in an oncoming barrage of blood stained swords, scythes and armour.

The game surpasses many other similar games purely because of how graphically violent it is. When you go in for a special kill, the camera will zoom in and focus on what you’re about to do to your enemy. This can range between anything from repeatedly stabbing your victim in the chest to holding the enemy up above your head, like the Aztecs would have done to a sacrificial victim, and ripping him into pieces with your bare hands.
One of my favorite things in any game, which is commonly done here, is having a large amount of mini cut-scenes. It really adds to the cinematic experience and makes the game a whole lot more exciting, as all the little things that would normally seem relatively mundane and uninteresting are suddenly re-proportioned to seem like something important is constantly happening. It keeps the gamer on his toes and keeps the level of anticipation at a constant high.

In conclusion, I would say that the entire visual aspect of this game has been increased a hundredfold (by what I can tell from watching videos from other games in the series.) Also, although I only know a very little amount of the God of War series, just watching that 10 minute gameplay video has made me think that I would probably purchase it if I could, as it has everything that a good action game should have. Gore, intensity, great graphical design and even more importantly, re-playability.

Thanks,
