Yes, it's true. I'll go into my personal opinions on it shortly. Winky Winky In essence, this badge recognizes someone for having an active interest in video games, and demonstrating that interest.

The badge isn't just about playing video games, but also balancing that interest with chores and schoolwork.

On top of that, you can now get another pin by doing some of the following; Installing a video game system, helping a friend with a video game by writing a guide, or playing any educational video game.

I think this new badge is both a good, and a bad thing. It is bad for children that are not currently playing video games. While I love video games, I think that it is best for children to hold off on them for as long as they can. This badge simply inspires younger children to begin playing, during years of their life when I believe they should be running around outside, learning to read and write fluently, etc.

For kids who are already active gamers, though, I think this is great. Not only does it give them a reason to play video games, but, for those that want the badge, it will teach them to balance their recreational time with their work time, which is a very valuable lesson to learn at a young age.

Your thoughts on the new badge?
