Crytek has announced that all future games in the Crysis series will be playable in 3D.

Crytek revealed at E3 that Crysis 2 will be played in 3D on the PS3, Xbox 360 and the PC.

The FPS was ready for release later this year but has been delayed back to the first quarter of 2011 by EA.
When asked Crytek boss Cervat Yerli if 3D was an experiment or if we could expect to see this technology to be used in Crysis 3, 4 and 5.

"Console gamers haven't seen [the original] Crysis yet and when we launch Crysis 2 it's kind of like a re-launch of the franchise. We want to make sure people associate the Crysis brand with 3D gaming in the future.

But we also want to make sure that it's for a reason - we want to turn the TV as well as the monitor in to a window into a new world. Once people play in 3D the way we've demonstrated, I don't think you'll want to not play in 3D ever again.

When Cervat was also asked if he thought there could be any risk that 3D gaming could become a “fad” he responded with:

I think that it will stay around. As soon as the first affordable 3DTVs arrive I think it's a no-brainer at that point, everyone will adapt. Initially there will be a more hardcore audience. I don't think every game will be 3D right away, but there will be some high-end production value games that will be 3D and will benefit from it.

I thought M$ wasn't going to focus on 3D gaming to make Kinect more compatible with other games? I could swear there was a conference on that around E3 time...

Why 3D? There's absolutely nothing special about the new 3D. The one way to know for sure that 3D for games will be a good choice is how killzone 3 is and if people are mainly playing using the 3D feature.
