You heard it right: The next installment to the critically acclaimed LEGO Star Wars series is coming next year! This is the third game in the series, and will combine the characters and stories of the Star Wars universe with the immensely popular Star Wars: The Clone Wars™ TV series.

In this sequel, you can expect more than the same game in a different setting. This title will employ players to create, control and explore the Star Wars universe like never before. Despite the fact that the game takes place in, as one could guess, a LEGO-based world, developers are still telling us to expect stunning visuals. You can also expect this game to include the slight humor we've seen in all LEGO titles. The game will consist of 20 story-based levels, as well as an additional 40 bonus levels spanning throughout the entire Clone Wars era. This is said to be the best LEGO game to date.

The Details

New Story & Setting - This third installment will take place in during the rather long Clone Wars period of the Star Wars trilogy.

Massive Ground Battles - For the first time in the LEGO Star Wars series, players will take part in massive ground battles, which allow gamers to control troops, build bases, and call in reinforcements.

SceneSwap - You have been granted the ability to be omnipresent; well, sort of. Now, with the press of a button, you can switch scenes to another group of Star Wars characters. This feature is useful when two teams are working together with a common goal. Rather than having to jump back into the past to relive a scene from a different view, you control which view you see things from; and when.

All New Boss Battles - For the first time, players will be up against bosses; all of which are accurate to the Clone War era. Some bosses include Gor, the epic Zillo Beast and many others.

Multi-Layered Space Battles - Now players will be able to board their favorite ships, and fly through multi-layer space battles taking place throughout the galaxy.

New Combat Abilities - Ever get bored with the same old attacks in previous LEGO Star Wars titles? In this next installment, new abilities, including lightsaber cutting, throwing, and climbing, will allow for more freedom in the way players eliminate their enemies. There are also new grabbling abilities, allowing for new, challenging puzzles.

Explore the Galaxy - With the use of various ships, players will be able to explore their favorite venues throughout 16 different star systems. You will be able to play as the Separatists, Republican heroes, or even as bounty hunters tracking your down characters throughout the galaxy.

Expanded Force Abilities - New force abilities will employ users to move objects, enemies, and even turn enemies into weapons. This will allow for new tasks and challenges throughout the game.

Brand New Clone Weapons, Vehicles and Characters - Say hello to rapid fire weapons and rocket launchers, as they will be a new part of the LEGO Star Wars world. You will also be able to explore well-known ships, like that of Anakin Skywalker and General Grievous. Some well known ships, including the Republic gunship, Clone Turbo Tank, and Anakin's Twilight, will be available to players when exploring the galaxy. Throughout the story, players will also encounter some of the most popular of Star Wars characters.

Puzzle Solving - Thanks to the many new features, new, challenging puzzles can be found in this next installment of the LEGO Star Wars series.

New Lighting and Animations - Given LEGO Star Wars III will use a new engine, developers will be able to bring the experience to life like never before, with stunning visuals and colors.

Split Screen - As with previous games in the series, LEGO Star Wars III will support co-op player. This time, however, players will be able to play online.
