For those of you enjoyed the original BioShock title, you'll remember that it initially came out for the Xbox 360 and PC. As the PS3 gained in popularity, remembering that when BioShock [1] came out the PlayStation 3 was still gaining its starting momentum, Irrational Games decided to make a port of the game for it. The PlayStation 3 version had various technical problems that were never experienced in the PC and 360 versions.

Irrational Games promises that this BioShock Infinite will not share the same fate. Instead of focusing on the 360 and PC versions, they have expanded their team and will be focusing on each equally across the board. "Writing code this way is more difficult for us, but has a key advantage: it's both optimal for the PS3 and gives speed improvements on other platforms due to increased cache coherence and more efficient use of multiple processing units," said Chris Kline, the technical director of Irrational Games.

Note: For those of you who do not know, Irrational Games did not develop BioShock 2. After BioShock, Irrational Games decided to leave the series (temporarily, of course). That explains why BioShock 2 was available for all three consoles at the same time, and why this piece of information is actually relevant at all.
