It isn't often when you hear of a Halo title "going dark". The last time we heard something like this was when Microsoft was finally pulling the plug on Halo 2, which resulted in a particular group of gamers staying online, henceforth remaining connected, until their Xbox consoles finally overheated. Now, it seems the strategy game Halo Wars is going dark, losing its official site and online stat-tracking.

Halo Wars originally got a MetaCritic score of 82, making it one of the best selling strategy games on consoles of all time. Nevertheless, strategy games are a very small category in the console world.

The HaloWars.com community has not responded well to this news, expressing their distaste for Microsoft in result. This is undoubtedly an attempt by Microsoft to move on from Halo Wars, whatever the reason may be. On Dec. 15, the official Halo Wars forum will be shut down, and all accounts, posts, and statistics will be lost.
