Microsoft is launching a new "Xbox Live Labs" program, where you get to be the lab rats! You may be wondering, what exactly is this? Well no one really knows yet. The only information we have gotten out of this so far is the fact that Microsoft will be performing a series of network tests between your Xbox and Live.

This program will run from March 10 through March 27, and it's completely voluntary whether you want to participate in the program or not. There is a catch though! If you choose to be a member of this, you will be unable to play games, watch movies or download music, while running Xbox LIVE Labs, and you may notice your internet connectivity running slower.
There are however perks that come with this! Each completed test will reward you with a total of three avatar items and three zero point achievements, including a lab coat, brain helmet, and crazy mad scientist hair to tie into the 'tester' theme.
If you are interested in this, go on your Xbox, sign into LIVE and navigate to the community channel where you’ll see the Xbox LIVE Labs panel. Download the testing app from there and begin your testing with the on screen instructions!
The Xbox LIVE Labs is currently only available to the US, but after this round of testing ends, they will evaluate whether or not it is useful enough to launch in other regions.
