Thanks to the reliable and respected Playstation magazine, we now have word that a God of War 4 is under production and will be released in 2012.
We were given a hint towards this last month when a CV referencing a "God of War 4 cinematic test" appeared. The animator in question has stated that this has nothing to do with Sony's series, but in PS3 mags latest issue, they've learnt more.

Remember, Santa Monica only said that God of War 3 was the last of the trilogy. They never send they were ending the franchise. Oh and I don't want to get you too excited, but don't forget the previous rumors of an online co-op mode coming in the next addition to the series.

Indeed, seeing as gods & such are all set in the past, maybe they make some sort of comeback in modern/futuristic setting?
