This is bad news for those who would want to borrow games of other people and be able to walk into the shop and buy a second hand version of the game then you will be locked out of the multiplayer of the game until you buy a Online Pass code from the Consoles marketplace/store.

Dice also added "but I don't think it's an online pass, I think it's our own backend. I'm not sure I want to call our system an online pass."

Dice added a reason for the online pass system "The whole idea is that we're paying for servers, and if you create a new account there is a big process on how that is being handled in the backend. We would rather have you buy a new game than a used game because buying a used game is only a cost to us; we don't get a single dime from a used game, but we still need to create server space and everything for you."

EA were the first one's to come out with the online pass BS.. Battlefield 3 will have an online pass without a doubt.

At first they said no online pass and all that!

well they would have said that to get people on there side, to buy battlefield 3 coz MW3 doesn't have an online pass. But now that the pre-orders are threw the roof, they decided to announce the online pass.

if i get the online pass with a new game and use it on my account will my dad have to buy a new pass to play online for his account or will it let him play online too?

I think its account specific. so all accounts on the same console would each need an online pass.
