If you are referring to Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary, then yes, it is is a remake of the original Halo for Xbox. However, the game uses a technology where you can switch between the original graphics of the game and newer graphics that were remade for the campaign. The multiplayer uses maps from the original game as well as one from Halo 2 I believe. However, the multiplayer uses the newer Halo: Reach engine for graphics, so it will be similar looking to the maps from Halo: Reach.

Now, 343 and Microsoft also announced a new trilogy starting with Halo 4. This new trilogy comes out in 2012 and is a brand new and not be a remake from any past Halo game. It will fit in with the past story though, with Halo 4 starting with Master Chief waking up on the frigate heading towards an unknown planet.
