The popular game developing company Digital Illusions CE (DICE), whom have developed one of the top first-person shooters to date, Battlefield 3, reveal the the most played and popular map in the game, they also give some details on weapon and vehicle balancing, and lastly they tease stating there'll be an interesting week ahead for you BF3 players and fans.

When questioned about which Battlefield 3 map has been played the most so far, Senior Gameplay Designer Alan Kertz said it was the map "Op Metro." This isn't much of a surprise due to the maps uniqueness. When defined "unique", the map isn't exactly your normal Battlefield map, due to it's "linearity" and "choke points". While it's said a lot of players loathe this small multiplayer map with a passion, most take advantage of it's space, roaming the halls underground with their favorite weapon, taking as much experience points as possible within the time limit.

Mr. Kertz was also asked about the topic of weapon balance and how DICE constructed it. He answered, which comes to a surprise to most:

If you've played the Battlefield 3 multiplayer a fair amount, you'd notice that the M16 is indeed a popular gun given it's rounded balance and damage it does to your enemies. Kertz then explained the vehicle balance in the tactical shooter:

Meanwhile, other members of DICE tease some upcoming surprises for Battlefield 3 fans. Daniel Matros, Global Community Manager, mentioned that there are some “good playtests going on in the Studio today,” while Senior Designer, Tim Kjell has “a ‘slight feeling’ next week will be a very, very… shall we say, rewarding, week?” Could he be referring to the recently announced Inside DICE feature? Or something completely different?

Also, other members of the DICE team tease us public about some upcoming "surprises" for the Battlefield 3 title. Daniel Matros, the games Global Community Manager, mentioned that there are "good playtests going on in the Studio". While the game's Senior Designer, Tim Kjell says "“a ‘slight feeling’ next week will be a very, very… shall we say, rewarding, week?".

The possibilities are endless when it comes to what he's trying to hint, could it be the Inside DICE feature? What do you guys think?

Depends on the kit. Usually stick with Assault- F2000 though :p
Great fire rate, great damage, manageable kick. And Operation Metro is a definite favorite.

OP Metro as in OP USAS Metro?
i`m not too keen on that map, it`s filled with USAS frag round noobs.

Plus.. it`s easy to get spawn trapped. i play solo most of the time & it depends if you have a good team to get out of the trap..
I don`t really have a favorite map but i like grand bazaar, you don`t have to run a mile for some gun action :p and best gun.. AEK-971.

My hope for what is coming "next week" :

Private matches for consoles that are user-hosted [or at least, allowing less than 8 people in a match that gives no XP]

or

A map that is solely a jet map. A jet spawns for every person playing, generally spawning on one of 12 aircraft carriers [2 jets/carrier, 6 carriers/team], and epic air battles can take place over a vast amount of sea.

Metro , Caspian, Firestorm and Kharg.

I don't like metro that much. It too linear and just badly designed. It good for ranking up guns but nothing else. Makes me remember why i hate rush.

Weapon balance thing i was thinking they used one gun as a base. Some people had predicted that if i remember right.

I have a feeling we going to see battle recorder. Private servers not going to happen.

I love Op Metro. It's so quick and you're never left miles away from the action like on some maps. I'm using the QBU-88 at the moment with ACOG foregrip and silencer and it's pretty unstoppable. My most used weapon is the USAS. I used it with frag just when the game came out, more and more people started to use it so I got bored with it. It was probably my favorite for the longest though.

"Rewarding week" Maybe double xp? Although, I don't like the idea of x2 XP, it's too childish, too lazy, in other words, it's too COD.

What I would love the reward to be is a jet only map, as said above. I talked to MBO about this before too. It would be sweet to have a map in the mountains where you could duck between hills, through valleys, under arches and maybe even through underground tunnels. It would give people a chance to really get to use the jet also, it's hard for beginners to rank up on them.

I know the knew DICE likes to run their mouth and make promises they cannot deliver, but such a small, menial implement is almost guaranteed. Almost little to no cost is put on them [if they do it right] and it puts them {in relation to playing with friends} at par or above COD. They'll do it.



I love your idea of the mountainous, tunnel map. I only said seas so that there wouldn't be noobs shooting down the jets with rockets. I guess that could be fixed with the only spawn point being the jets and the entire ground being that insta-kill out-of-bounds thing when your feet touch it. I'd love to see it happen.

What's your GT? I have MBO added, I'd love to get some new NGU members to populate my friends list ;p..

Yeah that would be sweet but it would probably never happen. I was talking to him on here about it. I don't have xbox I'm on PS3 :p
