For those of you's who don't have a house. Here is how you get it for free-
So what you need is the gold the house costs. Say the one in Whiterun is 5000 gold, you need 5000 gold or more, but don't worry. You won't loss that gold.

1. Find the person you will be buying the house from. Make sure you are both near some king of drawer/chest/anything you can store your money in.

2. Talk to him, and say you are interested in buying whatever house it is you want to buy.

3. Once you click "I'll take it.", press B/Cirle IMMEDIATELY, and go to the drawer/chest/etc. that is in front of you.

4. Go to Misc. and put in all your money into the drawer/chest/ect.

5. Once you do that, exit out of that and it will say you got the key and everything, and you should still have your gold!

6. Also follow the above steps to get perks (upgrades) for your house. You HAVE to upgrade your house!

Okay so let's get started.
So you need to get to the mission- 'iscerning the Transmundane'. It is one of the main story quests, so don't worry you will come to it eventually.

Once you finish the mission, 'iscerning the Transmundane'. Once you do complete the quest you are rewarding with a book called the Oghma Infinium

So once you get there, you want to pick it up BUT DON'T READ IT.[/U] Just put it into your inventory. Once you pick up the book you will have to speak to the Wretched Abyss and make a decision . (Chose the one you want).

Once you have finished talking to him, go to your house. I recommend you save your game before you do the follow steps. So once you save do the following-

1. Activate the bookshelf and go to your books and use the right trigger to open it.
2. Now select the skill tree you want to upgrade from "The path of might", "The Path of shadow" and "The path of Magic". If you are ever unsure where you are in the process just do not read.
3. Once you have read the path you wanted to, press B or O to back out of the book and store it on the bookshelf. Then back out of your inventory.
4. Then you should see it go on to the bookshelf.
5. When it's on the bookshelf you want to read it again, but when it comes up with all the paths you want to select, select Do not read and then store the book so its back in your inventory.
6. Just repeat the above steps.
