Post: AC130's, Good Or Bad?

Over the last few hours I've been played with Resist The Sun and have got a good idea of how the AC130 works.
One thing I think that is VITAL for the ac130 on conquest is Heat Seekers, Jets can take ac130's out with not much effort, without a good jet pilot defending you, the ac130 has a very short life in the skies :fa:. In rush it was a completely different story though, the AC130 has free reign over the sky and the only thing that could destroy it was 5 people constantly firing stingers at it, it also was very hard to defend the base because the AC130 could just fire a shell canon at the bomb and it would kill everything in the area.
I just think the ac130 should have some sort of protection against jets instead of being destroyed in 20 seconds

Thing i don't like is how you can spawn camp it as it enters the map :p
AC130 is deadly once you have jets protecting it so deadly that jets are forced to go into you. Which is something i would disallow from doing damage to the AC130.
Quite fun.....
Strange feeling it has two sets of flares which is good......i would increase it health. If that happens you don't need heat seekers but right now heat seekers would help the thing.

Irony is it lasts longer than a poor heli right now.

One thing why the hell is it in rush it bloody pain in the arse to deal with. A mobile AA would be great to counter it >_ >

Something new to the game and dropping in from the AC130 is good :y:

I was raping the AC130 in the Frogfoot. 4 double kills before kicked by admin... :fa:

AC130 demolition jet set-up... Stealth (belt speed optional, enemies don't like you downing their AC130, so stealth is recommended), Extinguisher, Heat Seekers.

AC130 is pretty fun to use. I haven't got to use the 105mm seat yet, but I was getting tons of kills in the 2nd seat.

Rocket pods over heat seekers AC130 won't know which direction you are coming from.
Conquest it underpowered rush it balanced.

I just prefer the seekers because they are fire an forget - I won't miss. Also, it'll help run the flares down for my buddies on the ground. I need them to kill the A10 too. :fa:

Both strategies can work though.

In conquest the AC-130 has not a large life in the skies and it is good for this open game mode.
In Rush you get killed really much times with it and respawns really fast if someone destroys it.

Each side has plenty of air support to deal with it easily and it can't slaughter as easily due to the players being more spread out. Plus each side gets an equal number of firepower to even things out.Now with rush it is just plain ridiculous. If you are on the defending team you need a fuckin prayer from the heavens to win. The attacking team is so stacked with vehicles it is not even funny. For example on Armored Shield offense gets two tank destroyers, artillery, a attack chopper, and a gunship. Defense gets a chopper and a regular tank. Death Valley is the same deal except you replace the chopper with the jets. That alone makes the fight incredibly lop sided.
The gunship makes things even worse. Since Rush uses smaller maps, the gunship makes a much tighter circle allowing it to rain down constant havoc. With it's immense bulk and firepower you need a good three engies working together to quickly dispatch it. It isn't had to take out but it does strain team resources that are needed against other vehicles and defending the mcoms. While it's up defending is difficult due to the straight forward nature of Rush. With players being closer together from the more narrow map layout, all the ac-130 has to do is shoot by the mcoms to make defending quite the ordeal. Even when it isn't directly killing you, you are in a constant state of suppression gimping you in ever fight.
The cherry on top is that in respawns insanely fast. Every 60-90m seconds a new one is up. Right when you start driving away the defenders , you start taking giant cannon to the face while it drops troops close by the objective. It's demoralizing working hard to take down the behemoth just to watch it laugh in your face and rack up another quick 7 kills. I have played 13 games of Rush so far and only 1 has the defending team won with . The attacking team is too stacked making each game a steamroller. I've seen just plain silly scores of 65-10. 55-9, 45-8 where it's just some being in the 75mm cannon.
Easy solution would be to bump up the AC-130 respawn time to perhaps 4 minutes on Rush at least and make it's rails much lighter. The offense also needs to lose a tank to even the odds a bit. Hopefully DICE won't take the standard a patch every 4 months and speed things up a bit. Really it's a shame because other than this i would imagine these maps play phenomenal and would probably have been my favorite maps due to them being large while maintain quick gameplay.
TLAwesome faceR AC-130 imbalances Rush with huge offensive power and rapid respawn times. This is complemented by the fact that the attacking team gets tons of additional vehicles while the defense gets whatever scraps are left.Defense never wins, offense always steamrolls. The defense's forces are spread too thin

AC130 in rush is unbalanced due to it re spawning at each m com..that the problem.
In conquest it too weak and needs more Armour.

In rush it needs to not respawn so much solve the problem.

ac130s were never really heaviliy used and there are only a handfull in the world they are used mainly for survainlence. i think a hellfire drone would be more appropriate
