In keeping with the tradition of the series, Mario Kart Wii features many shortcuts on the tracks. Some of the shortcuts are intentional, while others have been discovered by using a mushroom and jumping over hurdles. Almost every course in the game has at least one shortcut that is available by using a mushroom. Several shortcuts can cut race time to less than one minute, such as the unintentional shortcut at the beginning of Grumble Volcano.
