Post: RUF RGT Suspension/Chassis/Drivetrain Setup (GT5)
04-13-2013, 08:24 PM #1
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Looking for a good hybrid to mess with this car, The RGT has MASSIVE OVERSTEER. No matter the tune, the oversteer still exists, So, I'm looking for a good hybrid to work with for it, If any of you have had any luck prior to making this god awful car legitly driveable, and I'm not meaning "it's bearable" I'm meaning LEGITLY driveable/comfortable to drive.

Give me some good swap ideas for this beast that has/have worked for you in the past. I want to make a great drifter out of this beast, not some crazily over-powered hybrid, so keep it within "reasonable" terms.

I've already tried....

RUF CTR2 suspension. (No avail)
RUF YellowBird drivetrain/suspension (Absolutely no avail)
Nissan GT-R R35/V-Spec/Stealth drivetrain/suspension (handles like a friggin rock)
Volkswagen W12 Nardo Concept drivetrain/engine/suspension (Crazy overall performance, no luck with the oversteer though)

And that's about it,

Anyways thanks for browsing, would very much like an answer, and if I find any results from your answers, I will post them in this thread.

What I found best for this car was to just make it a FR car instead of RR. I used the chassis from the BMW CSL, but I'm sure that any comfortable FR set up would work well for drifting.

Hmm, wouldn't that CSL chassis make my RUF BTR look a bit..... how do you say... fat? I wan't to keep the originality of it at the least, I mean I could try the suspension/drivetrain from the CSL.... see if that'll do.

But also I've used quite a few FR swaps on this RUF. The FT-86, BMW M3 GTR, and a Ferrari 599, and the Blitz D1/and the premium model, all to no avail, I mean, it handles nice for drift, but getting into the drift, that's quite a problem, it still has massive oversteer, I mean I'm all for an FR tune, but I'm looking for something a little close to home, either keeping the flat 6 it already has in it, or finding a different RR that has moderate capabilities of power/handling, which is a pretty short list in this game unfortunately, But I'll try the CSL engine/suspension/drivetrain and see if that does any justice.

Thanks mate :y:

I've tried using a Blitz premium/standard swap on the RUF, Like I said earlier, to no avail unfortunately, I mean, I'm not doing anything wrong, this is all real simple stuff. But I don't want to end up having to transfer it to an 4WD JUST to make it turn better, there should be another alternative, I've also tried grip multiplier, it just makes it stick to the road and handles like a rock....

I'll keep investigating this. Thanks for your input though! :y:

I'm sorry, I miss spoke. I meant the drivetrain, not the chassis. With the front-engine rear drive-set up I find the car easier to drift with. I usually run in 550pp rooms and I added a supercharger to my RGT to give the original motor a little extra low end boost. Good luck, sorry for confusing you.

Nothing wrong with the car it's your driving style, You need to be abit more delicate on the throttle and don't do to much at once, Don't brake/accelerate to hard and turn to much all at the same time, The RGT is an amazing car if driving properly.

But try my set up for original RGT.

Springs - 5.8 10.2 ___(higher rear for less oversteer)
exten - 2 6 ___(higher rear for less oversteer on the throttle)
Comp 10-4 ___(higher front for better turn in under braking)
AR 1 1 (low cause its for a bumpy nordschleife)

Alright, I finally (after farrrrrr too many hours) figured a tune outta the BTR that is AMAZING with just about everything, I used the CTR2 Suspension setup, the CTR2 Engine, and I tuned it accordingly...

648hp/1262kg/589pp.

Suspension-
Ride Height~ 40/25
Spring Rate~ 5.3/6.1
Damper Ex.~ 6/4
Damper Comp.~ 7/6
Anti-Roll Bars~ 7/2
Camber~ 0.5/2.8
Toe~ 0.08/0.25

LSD~ 10/35/20

It goes in/out of corners FULL power excellently, absolutely no over-steer whatsoever.

Thanks for the help you guys!

Your Springrate are very to low.

You must Set the Springrate together with the Rollbars. It means when you choose a high Rollbar Rate ( 5 - 7) then set the Springrate also high (Springrate range 0-20, set 16-20). The Springrate has nothing to do with the hardness from your Suspension. You set with the Springrate how fast response your Suspension.
