The Ultimate How To Build a Hybrid Guide Using Multiple Tools
This will be a Guide using what I find to be the best ways to build awesome hybrids that are realistic, and don’t have weird quirks. Many people have built awesome stuff in different ways as there are many ways to skin a cat. I want to right off the bat make sure its clear this method is in no way talking down to anybody doing it differently. I have come up with a few tricks to make a few things easier, and trick GT5 into allowing us to install many hack parts inside the game.
Whats so different about a hacked part getting installed in the game or with me HEX editing it in?
I found there to be few differences. Fist and most notably, you get the correct default settings for any given part. Like the LSD or Center Diff for example. It makes it easier to do a drivetrain conversion, like a RWD to AWD conversion. Also many people don’t install proper adjustable parts but rely on the hacking tools to alloy them to adjust settings. This makes it much more difficult to fine tune the car, and leaves out some in game tuning options. Finally sometimes hacking on a part has quirky side effects where as installing the same hacked part in the game does not.
I will also mention that I am writing this with the assumption that those who are reading it already know how to use the Lucas Garage Editor & the Slimm355 & q-k Garage Editor apps. There will even be a small sections using Bruteforce and HxD, this is a small part and only relevant to those who are familiar with HeX editing the GT5 save game, if you don’t do not worry it wont matter much. I will however provide a link to various guides on how you can learn to do all of this and get all the apps needed.
The Beginning
First Step, first thing, the beginning of all of my Hybrids is an ODC conversion. Because we are running 2.11 we do not buy any cars from the OCD anymore, but when we did it was very nice. They all came with 0.0 on the odometer & they were fully broken in with maximum engine potential, unlike getting cars most other ways that forces us to either drive the for X amount of miles to break them in OR even worse, we have to put up with HP loss on a UCD car with a butt load of miles on the engine raping the potential of the engine limiting max hp.
For the time being this I do in HEX, it can be done in the editors, but I prefer it this way as the car is a 100% conversion as if it was the real deal without having to messing with settings tap pages etc. It’s most likely that will be added in the new release of the Slimm355 & Q-K Garage Editor program when its released. But for now here is how its done.
Use Brute force to decrypt the GT5 Save Game, then load it up in HxD & copy your car data into its own page in HxD. The top line will be your Car Data Starting Marker followed by the Odometer code, the Engine restore status code, the oil status code, and the wash status code. We will edit this full line to look just like a OCD car, and this will give us our 0.0 on the odo with a fully broken in engine for any car we apply it to.
This s what your car data should look like once loaded in its own page and the view is set up correctly as to the shared method of viewing your GT5 Car Data. You must login or register to view this content.
No matter what your line looks like we make the line look the same as the following to complete the conversion, HOWEVER, its important the first 4 digits (2 bites) either 01FF or 00FF never get touched. Its everything AFTER that we modify.
Make the line appear just like this
01FF0000 00000000 000000C8 927C0000 00000000 0A000000
And that’s done, the car will have 0.0 on the odometer and fully broken in power.
Next using the Lucas Garage Editor tool (it makes this quick and easy) we swap over the Engine, plus the body of the doner car, we also do the drivetrain if doing a drivetrain conversion. Load it up in GT5 and with the Body of the doner car, every part we buy will be authentic to the body, get installed as if it were that car, and get its default settings etc, it also just seems to work better less eyebrow raising oddities. So buy all the parts you want to be authentic to the donner car.
Once we have bought all the parts we want to have authentic to the engine tranny and drivetrain, we swap back on the body we are going to use for the car. At that point we can buy the suspention for it, weight reductions ect as we want those to be authentic to the body and chassis combo we are using.
Finally using the Slimm355 & q-k tool we edit the name of the car to reflect the mods we have done so it can be easily identified in the future and add any ticket pats we want to add on the car.
This process I find builds the best quality Hubrids, give it a try.
Here is a video I put together that will walk you through the process. Come along as I turn a S15 into a Monster with a RB26 swap & ATTESSA conversion.
Im going to put together a Hot Lap video of the Monster, as you see in the first run test, she nailled a 2.9 0-60 & 9.9 1/4 mile, I didnt realize at the time she was still sitting on Sports Hard tires
Ill probably follow up with a custom turbo install and a Razo S15 Chassis swap video showing the car push the limit of GT5 PP and rape lap times. My custom Turbo GTR (No FFF glitched turbo, but custom code) hits 1505hp & it will push 300mph & violently rape any hp modified car with specs even close, some Special Victims unit ish....

After putting the authentic parts in I head over to the garage and before I even click anything I can see the name of the car has reverted back. The thumbnail is of the skyline but once I press the current car button I can see my old car. I've tried loading the save data 3 times and carefully going through the steps with not luck. Any idea why?
